Description
A golden, spice-laced Indian snack made with air-fried okra, aromatic Kashmiri chili, garam masala, and ajwain. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and perfect for snacking with chai or meals.
Ingredients
2 cups okra, washed and stemmed
2 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
1 tablespoon Kashmiri chili powder
1 teaspoon ground garam masala
1 teaspoon crushed ajwain seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes
Cut okra into 1/2-inch rounds and pat dry
Mix gram flour, Kashmiri chili powder, garam masala, ajwain, turmeric, salt, and black pepper in a bowl
Toss okra with spice mixture until fully coated
Place in air fryer basket in single layer (no overlapping). Lightly spray with oil for extra crispiness (optional)
Air fry at 375°F for 10 minutes, flip, then 8 minutes or until golden
Repeat with remaining okra if needed
Cool slightly before serving
Notes
For best texture, double the coating mix and toss again after first flip
Avoid overcrowding to ensure even browning
Store in airtight container for up to 2 days
Can use cornstarch instead of gram flour for gluten-free
