Description
Light and airy jelly donuts made in an air fryer with a gooey jam center. Perfect for breakfast or dessert, these fluffy treats require minimal effort and deliver maximum flavor.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup whole milk
1/2 cup softened unsalted butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup apple cider
2 tbsp mashed banana (for binding)
1/4 cup bedek (halal gelling agent)
1 cup strawberry jam (halal-certified)
Instructions
Mix warm milk and yeast in a bowl, let sit 5-10 minutes
Whisk egg, sugar, vanilla, and mashed banana
Combine wet and dry ingredients, knead briefly
Wrap in plastic, let rise 1 hour
Roll dough 1/2″ thick, cut with donut cutter
Fill center with jam, pinch seams
Air fry at 350°F for 5 minutes per side
Let cool slightly, fill with additional jam
Notes
Use room temperature egg for better rising
Try blueberry or orange marmalade as jam alternatives
Store in airtight containers for up to 3 days
Substitute banana with 2 tbsp oat flour for extra binding
